Despite us all having a long day of travelling, we have still made the most of our first day. We arrived in Southampton at 12:00 where we visited the Solent Sky Museum. This museum was absolutely fascinating, and we were able to apply all of our prior knowledge about World War 2 to new facts and learning about the Blitz in Southampton. We had a very educational talk, delivered by a specialist, and then watched real footage of the Blitz in Southampton and studied photos.
After this we were able to explore all 3 floors of the museum and appreciate the amazement of the fantastic air crafts; we even had the opportunity to be pilots and sit in the cockpit of World War 2 planes!
After the ferry crossing, we finally arrived at our hotel at around 18:10. We quickly settled into our rooms and then had our much needed evening meal. We finished off the evening by playing some games out on the beach, in the dark, which was very cool, and we had the pleasure of majestic views with a beautiful moon, plus reflection in the sea. We went back to the hotel at 20:20, showered and got tucked up in bed by 21:00 as we were extremely tired.
This has been a fantastic start to our trip, and we are particularly excited for Osborne House and The Donkey Sanctuary tomorrow!
